1988
The Beginning
On 21 December 1988, Challenger opened its doors. What started as a small security business has grown into a trusted name in safes and secure storage across New Zealand. From day one, the mission was always simple: Protect what matters most.
2008
A new chapter
On 11 April 2008, our current owner took the reins. With renewed energy and vision, we focused on raising standards in security and delivering exceptional service to every client.
2011
Expanding expertise
From 1 May 2011, Challenger began distributing Raminator anti-ram-raid products, expanding our solutions for businesses needing advanced security beyond standard safes.
2012
Strengthening the Team
Craig Ingham joined us in November 2012 as a Service Technician. Today, as our ANZ Client Service Manager, Craig embodies the hands-on expertise and commitment that keeps our customers’ assets safe every day.
2013
Growing Partnerships
On 14 June 2013, Challenger started distributing Godrej Safes, bringing this trusted international brand into our portfolio allowed us to provide even more reliable and high-quality security solutions.
2015
Rapid Growth & Acquisition
The year 2015 was pivotal. On 28 February, we began distributing Tecnosicurezza locks. By 31 March, Challenger acquired Premier Safes, expanding our footprint and expertise. On 1 May, we added Gunnebo Chubb Safes to our range, giving customers access to world-leading safe technology.

Transforming Operations
Andy Fuge joined us as COO, bringing strategic insight and operational expertise. Under his leadership, we’ve streamlined our processes, improved efficiency, and positioned ourselves for stronger, sustainable growth.

Rebranding for the Future
This year, we’ve completely rebranded and restructured Challenger. We’re positioning ourselves as a forward-thinking leader in secure storage, making bold moves to drive innovation, growth, and excellence for our customers and our team.
